I began my early education at Chhuka and later transferred to my home village, Bidung, Trashigang, to continue studying. In grade six, I was disqualified from going ahead on account of perceived weaknesses in standards and mental capacity. This earned me parental censure and gossiping at the village, which hurt me very much emotionally and caused me to contemplate eloping away from home. But in the midst of these troubles, I remembered my father's wise words: 'hard work beats intelligence.' With his advice, I decided to change my attitude and tried hard in studies.
I still remember the break point when, during an early morning self-practice session, I mustered the courage to answer a question posed by our science teacher, which was welcomed with appreciation and applause from fellow students. This reinforced my determination further. In 2004, achieving fifth position in the science stream at Rangjung HSS reinforced my determination, despite the fact that we were faced with shortages of teachers and inadequate equipment.
Ever since I was three years old, I had an aspiration to be a teacher, which was fulfilled when I was selected for teacher training after graduating in my 12th standard, although not in the subject I wished. Nevertheless, being full of passion for self-improvement, I took motivation from role models and looked for means of self-upgradation.
Being awarded a prestigious scholarship by His Majesty The King of Bhutan (Trongsa Penlop Scholarship) to study for a Master's in educational technology and communications in Thailand was a highlight of my career. Under the supervision of my advisor, I learned skills in both action and traditional research, leading to the publication of two research papers in international journals and presentations in Japan and Thailand—a great feat for me.
In 2021, I was finally able to teach my dream subject after getting the subject change approval from the Royal Civil Service Commission. Now, as an ICT teacher, I strive to stay updated on the latest technological advancements and assist other teachers in integrating ICT into their Teaching and Learning Experience.
