A club initiated by Samtse Lower Secondary School
Samtse LSS Photography and Videography Club was created with a motive to serve as a community that supports and nurtures the passion for visual storytelling. The club provides a space for learning, creativity, collaboration, and engagement with students who share a common interest in capturing and creating compelling images and videos.
Introduce students to the basics of composition in photography, including the rule of thirds, rule of space, diagonals, symmetry and asymmetry, frames, and the golden ratio.
Teach students about the exposure triangle and how to adjust shutter speed, aperture size, and ISO to achieve the desired exposure in a photograph.
Provide an introduction to dSLR cameras, including different lenses/focal lengths and mounts.
Teach students about three-point lighting and how to use key, fill, and back lights to create different moods and effects in their photographs and videos.
Introduce students to the ethical considerations of photography and videography, including forced perspective, stereotyping, right to privacy, and post-editing.
Teach students about different image sizes and angles, including extreme long shot, long shot, mid shot, close up, extreme close up, high angle, low angle, and mid shot.
Teach students about camera movements such as tilt, pan, zoom, dolly shot, pedestal, and truck.
Introduce students to the basics of critiquing movies and documentaries, including analyzing form and content.
Teach students about color temperature and how to adjust white balance when shooting indoors and outdoors.
Provide an introduction to video editing software and teach students basic editing techniques such as split, frame rate, in and out, transitions, tracks, sound, and adding text.
Teach students about different types of cuts in video editing, including hard cut, J cut, L cut, and jump cut.
Introduce students to script writing and provide them with the opportunity to create their own short films or videos.
