Newsela is a data base of current events stories tailor-made for classroom use. Indexed by broad theme, stories are both student-friendly and can be accessed in different formats by reading level. All articles have embedded, Common Core aligned quizzes that conform to the reading levels for checking comprehension.
Epic! is an American kids subscription-based reading and learning platform. It offers access to books and videos for children ages 12 and under. The service can be used on desktop and mobile devices.
Multi-subject program (although heavily represents Math) that offers simply video tutorials and practice questions on a variety of concepts. Individual student accounts allow for teachers to collect data on performance. Integrates with Google Classroom.
Actively Learn is an e-reading platform that improves students' reading comprehension and retention by empowering teachers to reach students inside a book. Questions are embedded directly in text which require higher-order thinking.
ReadWorks is a resource for reading passage and lesson plans for K-12 teachers. Texts include pre-made worksheets, quizzes, and other printable materials to enhance the lesson. ReadWorks is free for teachers to use.
