His research interests include artificial intelligence, fuzzy methodologies for uncertainty modeling in complex data, sensor engineering, bio/neuroengineering, and life sciences.
Dr. Andreu-Perez was a Chair of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society Task Force on Type-1 fuzzy sets from 2018 to 2022. He is an Associate Editor-in-Chief for Neurocomputing and other journals. He has received accolades, such as the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science fellowship in 2022, Talentia Senior Fellowship in 2020, and an award for best research associate presentation at Imperial College London in 2017.
Prof. Pekala, Barbara (University of Rzeszow, Poland)
Barbara Pekala works as a Professor at the University of Rzeszów, Institute of Computer Sciences, and at the University of Information Technology and Management in Rzeszów, Poland. Her research interests concentrate on the exploration and application of extensions of fuzzy set theory, e.g. aggregation functions, information, and comparison measures in computational intelligence methods for decision-making, such as approximate reasoning, image processing, data mining, and Federated Learning Systems. Member of the Fuzzy Systems Technical Committee (FSTC) of CIS, the president of the Polish Society of Fuzzy Sets (POLFUZZ).
