Foundation Apprenticeships
What is a Foundation Apprenticeship?
Foundation Apprenticeships are two year courses for students beginning in S4 or S5. They allow you to gain knowledge about a subject from industry and education professionals, and gain valuable work experience which can give you a competitive advantage when you leave school. The Foundation Apprenticeship also provides you with something a little bit different to your typical school experience. Foundation Apprenticeships are recognised by all Scottish Universities and Colleges as equivalent to a Higher. They are continually assessed, which means there are no end of year exams. Typically, your first year will involve classroom teaching with elements of workplace visits and work inspiration, and your second year will primarily focus on high-quality work experience in an industry relevant to the subject you are interested in.
