Haven Room

2022-2023

The children are settling into the nursery routine and they have been very helpful helping to decide on how our nursery should look. We have spent a lot of time talking about how we are all feeling and have enjoyed reading ‘Have you Filled Bucket Today?’

We have also been doing lots of planting and are very excited to see how things grow. If you have any photographs of fruit or vegetables you have grown with you children we would love for you to email them in so we can add them to our display.

October Updates

All the children have been looking at autumn, we have been talking about colours of the leaves and looking at acorns, conkers and fir cones. We have been creative with leaf rubbings and using natural resources to create transient art outdoors.

Monday/ Tuesday Group

The children have built a bug hotel and investigating floating and sinking using fruit and vegetables.

Wednesday/

Thursday Group

The children have been little scientists and using imaginative play to create explosions in the water tray. Mrs Divers extended this and created a real explosion using Coca Cola and Mentos!!!

Families

We have been talking about our time at home and our families. The children have created a display of family portraits and we have a photograph album that children can look at all the time. If you have any family photographs that we could add to our album please hand them into nursery or email them to the school.

Outdoor Classroom Day

AS part of our celebration of Outdoor Classroom day the children of Haven room have reused and recycled materials to make hedgehog houses for the Beehive nature garden......they even added a few slugs as a special treat for the hedgehogs!

Some of the other fun activities that we take part in outdoors

Our science question.......

Why can we see the sun and the moon at the same time?

To help the children answer this question Mrs Divers did and experiment with the children. M was the sun. He held the pole and stood still. G is being the Earth walking around the sun whilst S is being the moon walking around the earth. As the children walk in the circles there are times that the earth and moon aren't blocked by the sun and can see each other!
