Welcome to Our Orchard
I have to tell a story
Of how the children planted trees
In all their Autumn glory
It started many years ago
Ambitious plans took root
Since then the trees have grown tall
And now bearing fruit
Storm Brian threatened wind and rain
But turned out not so vicious
And spared the apples for today
Red, golden and delicious
Mr Moody’s always got the cold
His nose is always drippin’
An apple a day keeps the Doctor away
….. so eat a Cox’s Pippin
The Orchard was organised by then Chairman Sonia Bruce
Who helped to to get the apples picked
And turn them into juice
Pam Smith has lived here all her life
Or could that be a myth?
She’s got 4 kids, so in ten years
She could be Granny Smith!
The orchard’s really growing well
It’s planted on the brae
Burnt by the sun and showered by rain
It gets bigger by the day.
So welcome to our Gala Day
I hope you will enjoy it
And drink a toast with me today
Dirleton Community Orchard.
