This page offers a chance to be able to see how our school extension is progressing.
If you have any questions about the build submit them at https://forms.gle/9o6jN2w2mt7V3K3F6 and we will publish the answers for everyone to see.
Look at how great the remodelling part of the school is starting to look. You can really see what the split classroom and new work space will look like as well as what downstiars where the nursery used to be will look like.
Look at how great the new corridor is starting to look. You can see the spaces for the new toilets to go in and you can see how the new classroom (which used to be the nursery) is starting to look.
A huge amount of work has taken place on what was the nursery, forming a new classroom. A new entrance has been created into the room and where was the entrance will become an accessible toilet for the new department. One wall of windows will be blocked up to form an adjoining wall to the new extension and you can see where the builders are working on underpinning where the extension will join on to the building.
New entrance to the room.
Prepating to block this end up in order to attach the extension.
The new storage is flying up in the old nursery.
And they're through! Here's the new fire exit for the extension which leads into the old nursery.
Where the old nursery kitchen was has been turned into a new classroom entrance from the old nursery hallway.
This room (which was P1/P4/GP room in recent years) is being divided to create a new work station for staff when we lose the current one for the kitchen expansion.
Where we used to store maths resources (and at one time was our library) is becoming toilets for our upper children.
While the builders are working on the old nursery, a dividing fence has been installed to provide a safe access route for parents and carers entering the playground over the summer. The fence also allows nursery children and staff to access the school safely for lunch in the hall. The fence will be moved and repositioned before the school returns in August to provide additional playground space.
Who knew this was hiding behind a pinboard? This is the colour scheme the school used to be painted in; blue with a green and yellow border.
Work has already started on the old nursery, preparing it to become a classroom in August. Everything from the nursery playground has also been dismantled.
We have officially started the build! One of the first tasks is to construct a temporary access road along the edge of the pitch. This road will be in place for the duration of the project and will be re-seeded once the work is completed.
Who will be our builders?
We are very excited to have had it confirmed that Henry Brothers will be completing the build for us. They are highly experienced builders who have just completed Frogston Primary School in Edinburgh https://henrybrothers.co.uk/ We are working closely with the contractors to manage the site and to keep the build safe.
