Tchoupi et le Père Noël - This is a popular cartoon series with children in France. You can watch this and just let pupils listen to the language and/or ask them to listen for words which they recognise e.g. Bonsoir, le Père Noël, un sapin etc. You can also ask them to look out for things which are different to our Christmas e.g. shoes at the chimney and Christmas dinner on Christmas eve. A full transcript and translation is provided for information and to support teachers in case of questions about the language.
This is a famous tradition in France which takes place on the 6th January, the epiphany. It is celebrated by eating a type of pastry, la galette, which contains a bean inside. Whoever finds the bean is then crowned king or queen for the day! La galette usually comes with a crown which they would then wear. You can learn more about the tradition, how to make a galette and some songs about it below.
