This year we have sent teachers two France and Spain for job-shadowing experiences and preparatory visits.
Our main objective for our job-shadowing experiences is to improve methods, acquire new knowledge, develop ideas about working with children with NDDs.
Job-shadowing in La Réole, France, September 2025
La Réole, France:
Our teachers Janine and Katarina have had the chance to observe how lessons are structured and conducted in the French partnerschool. They had interesting discussions and conversations with other teachers about the similarities and differences in the school system.
Here, the main focus was on learning how students with NDD's are supported in French schools. Our teachers looked at different pedagogical approaches, differentiation in the classroom and ways to integrate every student.
Secondly, our teachers got the chance to see how active citizenship is practiced in French school and the great impact it has on school life and on the society itself. Our teachers were surprised by the great variety of lessons, exercises and counsels that strenghten democracy. Some examples here are a subject that covers ethics, morals and civil rights; the active practice of democratic values in the classroom; student counsels; the importance and work around gender equality.
Our teachers are grateful for the well-organised job-shadowing experience and look forward to the upcoming exchanges!

Job-shadowing in Granada, October 2025
Granada, Spain:
Our teachers Sara and Calle took part in a job-shadowing experience in Granada, Spain, one of our main partner-schools. They also took the first steps to plan future student exchanges.
During their Visit at IES Luis Bueno Crespo they learned about the Spanish school system and compared it to the one in Sweden. In discussions they found many similarities as well as differences. Concerning the main topic of supporting students with NDD's, they got the opportunity to visit a special needs class and talked to the coordinator for students with special needs. Furthermore, they took part in activities and discussions concerning the same topic.
They also found out about how the Spanish teachers implement democratic activities in their classroom and found new ways to keep their own students active. At the same time, they learned about the Spanish democracy and how the school system is structured and has impacted active citizenship.
