Principal’s Message: October 2026

The month of September has flown by! We have had an excellent start to the school year, and it has been exciting to see the energy in our building as teams, clubs, and extracurricular groups kick off their activities.

A huge thank you to our staff members for supporting our students and providing so many engaging opportunities.

September is always a period of readjustment. Students are settling into new schedules, adapting to new teachers and courses, and taking on the challenges of a new grade level. Our students have done a wonderful job embracing these changes.

Please remember that our entire team is dedicated to student success. Whenever a student needs extra academic help, guidance, or simply a supportive place to talk, we are always here to assist.

Consistent attendance is directly linked to academic achievement. When students miss school, workload can quickly accumulate: missing just one month of school equals 25% of a course's total instructional time.

Attending all classes regularly is a vital responsibility that ensures students stay on track and confident in their learning.

We will hold Parent-Teacher Conferences at the end of October. Now is a great time to review your student’s current grades and attendance progress.

If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to teachers directly. Identifying concerns early allows us to partner effectively to support your child. Call the main office anytime for assistance—together, we will make this a successful and rewarding year!

Easy short cut: On our school website at the top of the page you will see Quick Links, select ”Attendance” it will open an email to the school, please include the first and last name of the student, date and reason for absence.

Join us on Thursday, November 5, at 5:30 p.m. at SCHS as we recognize and celebrate the hard work, dedication, and accomplishments of our students. We look forward to sharing this special occasion with our school community!

Grad Parent Communication Request Form

Attention Grade 12 Parents and Guardians!

To receive important updates and information from the Grad Parent Committee about the upcoming Grad Dinner and Dance, parents and guardians must complete the Grad Communication Form.

Please take a moment to complete the form using the attached link to ensure you stay informed about all the important grad details, plans, and announcements.

(A must for Grade 12 students, but all students should have a myPass account)

Students may provide the school office with their personal email address to avoid waiting for

a sign-up letter to be mailed from Alberta Education.

myPass is an Alberta Education self-service website for students. Order high school transcripts in English and French, View diploma exam marks, etc.

MyPass for Students

MyPass (Academic reports, transcripts, view diploma results, etc.)

MyPass.alberta.ca is a secure self-service website for Alberta students to:

Order high school transcripts
View diploma exam marks
Register to write or rewrite diploma exams (with online payments)
View and print Detailed Academic Reports (DAR)
View progress towards a credential (diploma or certificate)
Order additional copies of an awarded credential (in English or French)
Get notifications for important messages

Student MyPass Instructions

MyPass for Parents

MyPass can also be used to view and print an official record of who a student resides with and where they live. This may be required for some Canada Revenue Agency inquiries effective from school year 2017. More info on this below.

To sign up, Parent must have:

● the student's Alberta Student Number (ASN)

● the student's date of birth

● a current personal email address

Parents/Guardians may register for a MyPass connection for their child until the child reaches the age of 18. After that point, the parent connection expires and the student is then responsible for their own account.

Transportation (Bus Info)

Permission Needed to ride another bus:

If your student is planning on taking a different bus home, please fill out the Transportation (Bus) Permission form: FORM HERE.

This form must be signed by a parent or guardian, as well as a member of the Office Staff, and then provided to the bus driver. Form needs to be dropped off in AM and picked up at Lunch. Late day requested cannot be accomodated.

NOTE: Bus 905 is at capacity and CAN NOT take other riders.

Ensure you are a paid rider on a bus route.
Parent/Guardian to print and complete the Bus Rider Permission Form at home the night before student will require a different bus at the end of the next school day. (You can pick up paper copies at the school if needed, to take home.)
Drop the completed form off at the office before lunch; pick it up at the end of the day.
