Outdoor Learning!
Students have been getting outside in many different ways in the month of May! Our school participated in the Bon Accord Town Wide Clean-up and picked up several bags of trash from our community. Students in elementary have been learning about companion planting and the 3 Sisters crops of the Haudenosaunee, corn, beans, and squash, and have planted their own seeds to take home and transplant at the end of the month. Students have been outdoors practicing for Track and Field on Wednesday, May 22nd, and the nice weather has brought out the sidewalk chalk, playground games, outdoor walks, and more. We are excited to finish off the month by continuing to take our learning outside as we head into June!
Weather information
With the weather warming up we will be enjoying learning outside even more than before. Please note that as weather changes, we may have to pivot our plans and bring outdoor activities inside. We hope the air quality remains low for us to enjoy the outdoors.
Counselors Corner...
Our counsellors, Nadina Braz (for elementary) and Sandra Cooper (for junior high), along with our amazing Mental Health Coach, Jennifer Scott are here to help our students unlock their full potential and soar to new heights!
This month, we're shining a spotlight on honesty as part of our Social Emotional Learning (SEL) journey. It's all about fostering trust and integrity, and we're pumped to dive into it with your kiddos! But that's not all. We're dedicated to supporting your child's academic and emotional growth every step of the way. Our goal is to turn challenges into opportunities and obstacles into stepping stones, guiding our students toward clarity and resilience. Don't worry parents, we're here for you too! Whether you have questions, concerns, or just want to chat, please don't hesitate to reach out. We also understand that sometimes big emotions are unavoidable and there will be hard days, please feel free to utilize the "Handle with Care" message, because your well-being matters to us.
Together, let's make this school year one filled with growth, positivity, and endless possibilities for our Lilian Schick Knights!
Handle with Care
If your family is experiencing difficulties at home, we would like to provide additional support at school. We understand that you are not always able to share details and that's okay. If your child is coming to school after a difficult night, morning or weekend, get a message to the school saying "Handle with Care". Nothing else will be said or asked. This will let us know that your child may need extra time, patience or help during the day.
