Message From The Principal
Dear BACS Families,
As another wonderful school year comes to a close, I want to extend my sincere thanks to our students, families, and staff for making this year such a positive and memorable one. It has been a privilege to watch our students learn, grow, and achieve so much throughout the year.
To our families, thank you for your continued support. Your encouragement and involvement help make Bon Accord Community School the caring and welcoming community that it is.
As summer begins, I hope everyone has the opportunity to relax, recharge, and enjoy time with family and friends. I encourage our students to keep reading, exploring, and making wonderful memories over the break.
On behalf of everyone at BACS, thank you for a fantastic school year. Wishing you a safe, happy, and restful summer, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back in the fall!
Warm regards,
Matt Ohm
Principal
Bon Accord Community School
We are excited to welcome both new and returning staff members to Bon Accord Community School for the 2026/2027 school year! Our dedicated team is committed to providing a safe, caring, and engaging learning environment where every student can thrive.
We invite you to take a moment to meet the wonderful staff who will be supporting our students this year. We look forward to partnering with our families to make the upcoming school year a successful and memorable one.
Class assignments for the 2026/2027 school year will be available to families through PowerSchool on August 27, 2026.
Each spring, our teachers, support staff, and administration work collaboratively to thoughtfully create class lists for the upcoming school year. This is a careful process that takes many factors into consideration, including academic needs, learning styles, student supports, social dynamics, and creating balanced classroom communities. Our goal is to provide every student with the best possible learning environment and set them up for a successful school year.
Because class placements are developed with significant time, care, and input from our entire staff, requests for changes will only be considered in exceptional circumstances where there are well-documented educational concerns.
We appreciate your trust in our staff and your understanding as we work to create positive learning experiences for all of our students. We look forward to welcoming everyone back for another fantastic year at Bon Accord Community School!

Our Grade 4 students wrapped up the school year by hosting a fun-filled Flex Festival on the last day of school! Students had the opportunity to participate in a variety of exciting games, activities, and challenges, creating lots of smiles, laughter, and lasting memories as we celebrated the start of summer break together.
To top it all off, everyone enjoyed a refreshing freezie, a perfect treat on a warm day! A big thank you to our Grade 4 students and staff for organizing such a fantastic event and helping our school community end the year on a high note.
What a wonderful way to celebrate an amazing school year. Have a safe and happy summer, BACS!
Wednesday was filled with energy, laughter, and excitement as Mini Legends visited BACS! Students of all ages had an amazing time participating in a variety of fun, active games and challenges that kept everyone smiling throughout the day.
The excitement wasn't just for the students, even our staff got in on the fun! It was wonderful to see our entire school community coming together to enjoy such a memorable experience.
A big thank you to Mini Legends, staff and volunteers for helping us create such a fantastic day to remember!

Choose one day each week to be a "Family Unplugged Day" by limiting screens and spending extra time connecting, exploring, and enjoying each other's company.
Raising children in a digital world can be challenging. The Unplugged Pledge helps families work together to support healthy technology habits and student well-being.
1. Mental Health
Early smartphone use is linked to increased anxiety and social pressure. Delaying smartphones helps students grow with fewer digital stresses and more emotional support.
2. Better Focus & Sleep
Without constant notifications, children sleep better and focus more—supporting learning, mood, and daily routines at home and at school.
3. Real Connection
Phones can distract from friendships and family time. Unplugging encourages in-person play, meaningful conversations, and stronger relationships.
4. Community Support
When five families in a grade pledge together, Unplugged connects them. Shared expectations make healthy habits easier to maintain.
5. A Positive Culture Shift
Each pledge helps build a school-wide culture that prioritizes balance, well-being, and responsible technology use.

We continue to remind our community members that morning drop off and afternoon pick up can be quite hectic in our bus lane and parking lot. With this reminder, we encourage parents and students to not walk between the buses at these times as bus operators may not see the foot traffic clearly. We also remind those that use our parking lot that there is an entrance and an exit. School administration will work with Sturgeon Public School Divison's Facilities team to support the parking lot with better signage to support traffic flow.
If your child will be absent from school, you may report that absence by emailing baccord@sturgeon.ab.ca or calling the school at 780-921-3559, if your call goes to voicemail please leave a message. The messages are checked frequently.
Please ensure you send your child to school in proper wear for the weather with extra clothes, including socks and underwear. Be sure to label all your child's outerwear, including their shoes. We have many BACS Bears with the same shoes and want to avoid any mix-ups. As the weather is much hotter please be mindful of sending your child to school with sunscreen already applied, a hat and water bottle.

Be sure to check SPS Bus Status for the most up-to-date information on the status of bus routes.

TCIS at
At Bon Accord Community School, we are committed to fostering safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environments for all students. One of the key tools we use to achieve this is the Therapeutic Crisis Intervention for Schools (TCIS) system. TCIS is a trauma-informed, division-wide framework designed to help staff prevent crises, de-escalate potential conflicts, and support students in developing healthy emotional regulation and coping skills. This system not only enhances safety and well-being but also promotes stronger relationships between students, staff, and families.
