At our school, any form of bullying, harassment, discrimination, or violence is not acceptable in learning environments, school corridors, social media, or any other activities. The rules aim to guarantee a safe and comfortable working environment for every member of the school community, allowing them to focus on their studies.
The rules apply to all situations related to school activities, both on school premises and elsewhere, such as study trips and school camps.
Please familiarize yourself with the rules, as they guide students' behavior from various perspectives to create a safe learning environment.
It is important to note that dishonesty is considered punishable. Cheating (for example, copying) also includes assisting in cheating and plagiarism. Plagiarism refers to using someone else's material (such as text, images, or video) without crediting the original creator.
Behavior
In school and other learning environments, students are expected to behave appropriately, adhere to good manners, and treat everyone with respect.
Compliance with Working Hours
Students must follow the agreed working hours and always report absences. Teachers have the right to refuse entry to a lesson for late students.
If a student needs time off from schoolwork, permission must be requested in advance.
Supportive Learning and Working Environment
Everyone is responsible for maintaining a safe, orderly, and clean learning and working environment. All forms of physical and psychological violence, bullying, and harassment are strictly prohibited.
Mobile devices, such as smartphones, tablets, and computers, are only to be used as learning tools in educational settings. Their use must be agreed upon with the teacher.
Cleanliness and good manners should be observed during meal times.
Workplace Safety
During studies, students must follow the safety and other instructions provided by the school and other learning environments.
Everyone is responsible for ensuring their own safety and the safety of others. Any safety issues must be reported immediately to a teacher or other staff member.
Handling of School Property
School and other learning environment property should be handled and stored carefully, following instructions and sustainability principles. School equipment may only be used with the consent of the person responsible for it.
Students must report any damage or loss of school property to a teacher immediately. Intentional or negligent damage to property will result in a compensation requirement.
Event organizers must ensure that the meeting spaces are clean after school events.
Substances and Smoking
The school is a drug-free and smoke-free environment.
The use and display of tobacco products, including snuff and electronic cigarettes, are prohibited on school grounds and at school events.
Similarly, the possession or use of intoxicating substances, as well as appearing under their influence, is forbidden at school and during school events.
Traffic and Parking on School Grounds
Vehicles must be parked only in designated areas.
Violations of the Rules
A student who disrupts order or behaves inappropriately, such as engaging in dishonesty, may face disciplinary action. According to the Finnish Upper Secondary School Act, possible sanctions include being ordered to leave a school event or classroom, being denied instruction for up to three working days, failing a course, receiving a written warning, or being expelled from school for up to one year.
