Mrs. Rivette
Mrs. Rivette
Over the past 25 years, I have had the privilege of sharing my passion for music with hundreds of students at Sherbrooke Elementary School. My own musical journey began later than most—at the age of 17—when my high school music teacher encouraged me to pursue my vocal talent. Inspired by his guidance, I enrolled at McGill University, where I completed a Bachelor of Music and a Bachelor of Music Education, specializing in voice. As part of my teaching degree, I learned to play a wide range of instruments, a skill set I continue to incorporate into my music program today.
In 2018, I earned my Orff Level I certification, which forms the foundation of my teaching approach for Cycle I and II. The Orff approach is a dynamic method of music education that engages children’s minds and bodies through a combination of singing, dancing, acting, and playing percussion instruments. In our classes, students frequently explore xylophones, metallophones, and glockenspiels as they develop their musical skills.
For Cycle III, students have the opportunity to discover and play a variety of string, wind, and percussion instruments, broadening their understanding and appreciation of music.
I invite you to explore this website and share in the joy and creativity that music brings to our students at Sherbrooke Elementary School.
Musically yours,
Tracey Rivette
