Eliana is going to take us through a typical day at school for a Secondary 1 student at RRHS. Students in Secondary 1 follow a schedule that keeps them with one teacher for ELA, History, Geography, and ERC. They have 3 levels of French to choose from, Base, Enrichie, or Langue Maternelle. All of our Secondary 1 students will spend time in each of our different Art options, and they round out their schedule with Phys ed, Math, and Science.
Still bundled up, Eliana is off the bus and heading in for class
Drop your stuff at your locker and head to class. Here we see Eliana's friend Trinity having a chat with Ms Hamel before class.
Once the bell rings, it's straight to work. RRHS has 3 classes in the morning before lunch.
Secondary 1 students will stay with the same core teacher for ELA, His/Geo, and ERC. They also take Math, Science, French, Phys Ed, and Exploration of the Arts
RRHS has transitions between classes with enough time to get to your locker, get to your next class and even snap a quick selfie
RRHS takes a 55 minute lunch break which plenty of time to eat, maybe play a lil soccer outside, or just go for a stroll around the school with your friends.
Depending on what day of the cycle it is, you may be in study hall, with a teacher for remediation, or exploring one of our passion courses.
TR or Targeted Remediation, is when a teacher selects a small group of students to work with on a specific concept or topic.
RRHS has one more full class in the afternoon. Each of our classes are 67 minutes long.
Many of our Secondary 1's are nervous about missing the bus. There is nothing to worry about, for the first week we have staff members outside helping everyone find their bus, and nobody leaves until everyone is on their bus.
