Mindy Golden RN,MSN

I'm so excited to be at EDS and taking care of your students! In addition to being the school nurse, I also teach Health class for 6th and 8th grade.  I began working for Episcopal Day School in 2021. I received my Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2007 and Master of Science in Nursing in 2010 from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock, TX. 

I am originally from Austin, TX. Prior to becoming a school nurse I was in Nursing Education for a small private university in Maine. Prior to teaching I worked in an Adult Intensive Care Unit.

I am a member of the National Association of School Nurses and The Georgia Association of School Nurses.

I am a proud EDS parent as well. I look forward to working with your students to make their year as healthy and fun as possible!

Duties of the School Nurse

The School Nurse's duties include:

Serving as coordinator of comprehensive health services

Delegating selected nursing tasks to other competent personnel and providing training and supervision

Coordinating and communicating health care information between students, staff, family and physician

Developing Individualized Health Care Plans and Emergency Care Plans for students with acute or chronic health problems

Counseling students, parents and staff regarding health development and psycho-social concerns

Providing health screenings as designated by state regulations, i.e., vision, hearing, blood pressure, scoliosis, height and weight

Participating in identifying students needing 504 plans and participating in the development of a comprehensive plan

Submitting data and reports to state agencies related to immunizations, TB testing and employee injuries

Maintaining accurate records of all nursing care provided

Teaching health education and promoting wellness activities

Providing assessment and care of onsite injuries and illness.
