Hey there, fabulous 5th grade families! I’m Jessica Cowin, your Math teacher, and I’m beyond excited to kick off an amazing year of reading, writing, and growing together in 5th grade! I live in southern Missouri with my husband, six dogs (yes, six!), and one very not-so-patient cat. I earned my dual degree in Elementary and Special Education from Grand Canyon University, followed by a Master’s in Reading—because I love books that much. When I’m not diving into a good story, you’ll find me camping, gardening, floating on the water, or laughing with family and friends. I believe learning should be joyful, messy, and full of discovery. My classroom motto?
“We will make mistakes, learn, and grow together!” 💪📚
Let’s make this year unforgettable—I’m so ready to learn and laugh with you!
Hi students and families! I am so excited to work with you this school year. As a teacher and mama of 3, I know how important it is to have a team effort to ensure a successful year of learning and growth. I have a Bachelor's degree in Human Development & Family Studies, Master's in Teaching, and certification in Teaching English to Speaker's of Other languages. My ultimate goal is to help instill a lifelong love of learning in every student. Let's have a great year!
I live in Georgia with my husband and four sons. My love and passion for teaching was discovered on a study abroad trip to Jamaica, where I taught math and reading lessons at a Jamaican elementary summer school program. I completed my student teaching in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. I participated in the Caretta Research Project, where I assisted in gathering data about the sea turtles. I previously taught in brick and mortar. I have been teaching virtually the past few years and I am loving it!
I am excited to be your Science teacher this year and look forward to supporting you on your learning journey. Originally from Ponce, Puerto Rico, I moved to Spring, Texas, in 1999. I am blessed to share my life with my husband, son, daughter-in-law, and two wonderful grandchildren.
I have dedicated more than 26 years to education, teaching students in grades 1–8 in both bilingual and general education settings. For the past six years, I have been proud to serve students through Edmentum's virtual learning environment. Teaching is my passion. I enjoy inspiring students to discover new knowledge, think critically, and reach their full potential. One of my favorite quotes is: "Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire." — William Butler Yeats. This quote reflects my belief that learning should spark curiosity, creativity, and a lifelong love of discovery. My goal is to ignite that passion for learning in every student I teach through engaging lessons, meaningful activities, and a supportive classroom environment that promotes success.
I am looking forward to a wonderful year of learning, exploration, and growth together!
