Hi Fifth Graders and Families! I’m Ms.Cook, and I’m so excited to be your science teacher this year! I currently live in Georgia, but I’ve had the chance to live and teach in a few different places over the years including Shanghai and Hangzhou, China! I earned my bachelor’s degree from Vanderbilt University. This is my 18th year as an educator and my 6th school year teaching virtually. I love helping students learn and grow, and I’m looking forward to a great year together. When I’m not teaching, I enjoy traveling, reading, cheering on my favorite sports teams, and spending time with family and friends. I also have a dog named Kylo, who may pop into our lessons sometimes!

I live in southern Missouri with my husband, six dogs (yes, six!), and one very not-so-patient cat. I earned my dual degree in Elementary and Special Education from Grand Canyon University, followed by a Master’s in Reading—because I love books that much. When I’m not diving into a good story, you’ll find me camping, gardening, floating on the water, or laughing with family and friends. I am so excited to be one of your science teachers this year. I was born and raised in Ponce, Puerto Rico and moved to Spring, TX in 1999. I have been teaching for 30 years and and I have been teaching virtually the last 5 years. I am a fresh grandma of a 6 month baby boy, my first grandson!

I live in Austin, Texas with my husband and two sons, Doyle and Lawson. My love and passion for teaching was discovered on a study abroad trip to Jamaica, where I taught math and reading lessons at a Jamaican elementary summer school program. I completed my student teaching in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. I participated in the Caretta Research Project, where I assisted in gathering data about the sea turtles. I previously taught in brick and mortar. I have been teaching virtually the past few years and I am loving it!
