Term 3 Week 9 - Wiki o Te Reo Māori

Smart Learner - WALT

Today, we'll practice saying Te Reo Maori words correctly, complete a sentence, and use Google draw to take pictures of ourselves holding three class objects.

LEARN

1. Open the slides for today's lesson and look at the pictures and words on the slides.

2. Click on to the links as there maybe 'soundbites' added to help you hear the kupu.

3. Spend time to read and learn how to say the names of the words in Te Reo Maori from the slides.

CREATE

Capture a photo of yourself holding three different objects from the class.

2. Label each object with 'He ______ tenei' (fill in the blank with the correct Te Reo Maori word).

3. Ensure you save the image as a PNG file.

2. Write a paragraph describing your learning experience with Te Reo today.

3. Encourage and inspire others to start learning Te Reo in your blog post!

In this session, our aim is to teach students how to comment and communicate effectively in a Google Doc. We will also guide them in taking screenshots of their comments and sharing what they've learned on their blogs.

We are learning to create quality blog comments to give 'positive, thoughtful and helpful' feedback to class or students blogs.

During this session, the focus is on commenting on blog posts. We will revisit the Crafting blog comment slide and allow students to use the template to craft and write their posts.

Students to make a copy and the slide deck to support comment crafting.

Fun Activity: Students could finish their Up the Wah’s Jersey from last week.

Learning to write a Blog Post and to give feedback.

We are learning to write Quality Blog comments.

Copy of Crafting Blog Comments

Allow students to search posts created from some of the schools online. Have them read the posts, identifying what they liked, enjoyed and learnt from the posts.

Teacher to discuss and model how to craft blog comments (refer to the slide deck.

Fun Activity: Using Google Draw to create an Up the Wah’s Jersey - focus on exploring the toolbar and various TB options.
