This week we are checking our writing is finished, in the right place, and blogged.
Monday:
Proofread your KPMG Report Make sure you have used words like he, she, and they NOT I, we, me, and us.
Start a report on Matariki, using the same template - Describe what Matariki is
Tuesday:
Continue your report on Matariki using the same template.
Wednesday:
On both reports - Identify words used in your report nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, pronouns ... highlight using different colours. E.g. red=nouns and orange=adjectives, green=verbs and blue=adverbs.
Thursday:
Once checked and highlighted pick one report to download as a PDF to share on your Blog.
Then write about what you found fun, and challenging. Why was this report easier to write?
This week we are continuing to use Sensory Imagery to Create Suspense.
Monday:
Proofread your Completed Suspense Story and download as a PDF to share on your Blog. Comment on what you found fun, challenging and easy.
Wednesday:
Start a Report using the framework about our Trip to KPMG
Thursday:
Add the middle section to your report.

Take a screenshot of the part you used the writing frame to write (first paragraph) add a screenshot to your blog and explain why you like/dislike using this writing frame.

Use Craiyon to create an image using your opening paragraph.

This week we are using Sensory Imagery to Create Suspense.
Tuesday: We will do this step by step.
We will - Listen to an opening paragraph to Broken Wing then Imagine and write down:
a quiet, place or remote setting, like a church, graveyard, bush, park, other
a time of day or night
sound(s) you can hear
something in the air: mist, smoke, rain, snow, wind
a thing at the middle of the setting or place
the name of a person at the place or scene
what is the person doing
a question the person is concerned about or is wondering
Add to writing frame.
Wednesday:
Discuss: Why we might start a narrative this way?
What else can we include to help build the suspense?
Create a new Doc and copy your opening paragraph.

This week we are finishing our report about Swimming.
Wednesday/Thursday: Finish your Report. Proofread your report about swimming, practise reading it aloud before recording! Punctuation helps you breathe.
Wednesday/Thursday: Create multi-media, have the camera focus on one or two of the photos, have some water sounds in the background, and read your report. You will need to practise a few times before recording.
This week we are continuing our report about Swimming.
Monday: Check out the answers to our questions here. Add two photos from the day to help you focus on what you are seeing/watching. Add the thoughts or responses to the brainstorm you made. Read what you have written so far, and remember to write as though you are watching, like one of the parents (from the sideline). Use words like he, she, they not I.
Tuesday: Write 2 paragraphs for your report. When we write reports, remember to write as though you are watching (from the sideline).
Wednesday: Write your summary, and again proofread, if you have written a comment from the questions you can quote it (use speech mark).

This week we are writing a report about Swimming.
Monday: In groups think of 3 questions you would like to ask a lifeguard or swim instructor from the local pools about their job, the skills they require, and possible wages. Add them to this Doc.
Wednesday: Brainstorm (in groups) the things you did at the pools in your group, check out the photos if you have forgotten. Use a Y chart, with the heading, What did you feel? What did you see/hear? What did you do/learn? Be ready to share your ideas.
Thursday: Start your report, (independently) write the general statement and think of the topics you would like to cover add this as headings to remind you.
When finished writing your report on the Water Event, practise reading aloud (quietly) in preparation to create a Multimodal presentation.
Using the Inquiry Slides for your group...
Pick one event that you could create a report for.
List all the nouns that relate to the image
List all the adjections to describe the nouns
Add the verbs (they can end with ing) doing words
Add the adverbs (they describe the verbs and usually end with 'ly'
Check your spelling
Write using a range of the above words to help write your report about the water event you have picked use the structure of 'a report' above to help you.
What goes into a report?
Design a DLO showing what makes a great report, and include an example for the description.
