If you construct your own model for the wind tunnel, it must have a mounting stem that properly interfaces with the wind tunnel. Remember that the mounting stem is mounted on the right side of your model when facing upwind, and lift is measured DOWNWARD in the Edmonds wind tunnel. This means that if your object generates lift, it must be flown UPSIDE DOWN in the wind tunnel.
When you contact the Edmonds Wind Tunnel technicians to begin planning for your project, you will receive a 2" section of 1/4-20 threaded rod. This rod must be embedded into your structure at the point you wish it to be held, subject to the requirements that it be held on the right side (looking upwind) of your object, and that objects that generate lift must be upside down. It is your responsibility to have this threaded rod mounted in your model prior to the day of your wind tunnel testing.
In the event that you wish to explore alternative mounting options you must contact the wind tunnel technicians as soon as possible to discuss your proposed alternative to determin if it is feasable.
Failure to follow these instructions may mean that you are unable to test your object on your test day. When in doubt, contact the wind tunnel technicians for advice and help.
