Legal Assistant Position at Northwest Justice Project is hiring a second legal assistant to work on a team of all stars with the King County Veterans Project. This team prioritizes working with low income King County veterans as well as surviving spouses and dependents with applying for, or appealing for VA benefits including disability compensation, pension, resolving overpayments, termination of benefits, accessing healthcare benefits etc. They also provide some consumer law and housing assistance such as negotiating debt settlements, requesting reasonable accommodations with landlords, requesting repairs, understanding ledgers, housing voucher issues, negotiating mutual terminations, rent defaults and pre- Right to Counsel eviction defenses.
