We meet every day for a “skinny” class period just before lunch or just after lunch. It’s an awesome break in the middle of your day!
Because we meet every day, we get really good, really quickly. The band songs are fun to play and the concerts sound awesome :)
7th-grade is divided into only 2 sections, so the class is pretty big, like 50+ Bandies. You make lots of Bandiefriends in 7th-grade!
Performances! We perform 3 concerts (Nov, Feb, May), participate in SoloFest, and attend the 7th Grade Band Festival!
We hop on buses and perform at the Middle Level Band Festival. We get to hear other middle school bands and get a clinic. Afterwards, we eat lunch at the Eden Prairie Center food court before heading back to school. Fun!
Special guest musicians come and perform for us during band class. In the spring, we work with a professional composer who teaches us how to write our own music.
Truly, 7th-grade band is all about fun, friends, and music - it doesn’t get any better!
Extra Opportunities!
Jazz Band (optional) - learn jazz from 8:00 - 9:00am once a week and perform 2 concerts Pizza & Pops (optional) - Bandies are invited to a special dinner of Pizza and Pop before the opening night of POPS at EHS! SV & VV Band students get special seating for the show. Fancy!
