Welcome to our database for our long term research on Lake Wingra. The data that is available on this website has been gathered by Edgewood Campus School 7th and 8th grade students since 2016.
7th Grade students focus their research on the living factors within the lake. Students study both plant and animal life, including aquatic macrophytes, ephemeral flowers, zooplankton, macroinvertebrates, birds, and fish. In 8th grade, students turn their focus inward as they record data and make observations about the chemical components of the lake. We sample for dissolved oxygen, temperature, ice thickness, nitrogen, phosphorous, turbidity, alkalinity, conductivity, pH and carbon dioxide.
Learning together from Lake Wingra is the best sort of education we can imagine. Have any questions about our data or our site? Feel free to send an email to cziegler@edgewoodk8.com We would love to hear from you!
