Check out the new video from Ms. Feuerstein and Ms. Huang!
What a truly unforgettable 2019-2020 school year! We wish we could be together on this last day of school. We are looking forward to seeing you in September (or at the optional virtual Social Justice Book Clubs). Have a wonderful summer, Seely!
During our car parade last week, our students decorated their cars. It was so cool to see! One family shared this photo and message with us, and we were so touched by the sentiment, that we want to share it with you. Enjoy!
Check out this powerful piece of art by Ben, a Seely Place fourth grade student.
Congratulations to our Seely Place Class of 2020!
Tomorrow, our sixth graders are moving up! It's time to celebrate!
Have you recently started a book that you can't put down?
Please email us your book title and we will create a list of all of our Seely favorites. We hope we can recommend a new book for you to enjoy this summer. Happy Reading!

One way to teach your children about racism is through books. Here is one such book. Here is a list of anti-racism books from the New York Times.
Read Songs of Summer. Try to move to the rhythm of the words. Can you jig for joy like a ladybug? Can you tap your feet like a caterpillar? Can you buzz like a bumblebee?
Please send us a photo of any art that this poem inspires you to create. We will update this post with your photos!
Soon our sixth grade students will 'move up'. Here is our moving up 'teaser' in celebration of the upcoming moving up ceremony.

Ms. Feuerstein made a morning announcement today, but it just wasn't the same.
Take a look at our classrooms as our teachers are busy cleaning and organizing.
Seely Place has been busy with school supply pickup and classroom cleanup. The strangest part is that the classrooms look like time has stopped in the middle of instruction and the hallways are so quiet. We really miss our Seely students.
A message from the Edgemont Elementary PTA:
We had an overwhelming response to our Teacher Appreciation Week video hug request, and sent over 400 hugs to our teachers! Thanks to our teachers and staff for all they've done for our students, both in the classroom and online, and thanks to all of you who submitted! To see the video, grab the beverage of your choice, snuggle up on the couch, click here, and enjoy!
What does your world look like now? The Hudson River Museum is organizing Outside My Window: A Virtual Community Exhibition. HRM wants to see the world from students’ perspective, one window at a time. Students can Make a picture—a photograph, a sketch, a drawing, a painting—or write a short poem or prose piece about what you can see outside your window or on a walk.
Students can share one original artwork —a photograph, a sketch, a drawing, a painting—or write a short poem or prose piece about what you can see outside your window or on a walk... By expressing what we see outside through words or pictures, we communicate what we are feeling inside. That is the power of art.
Please email your artwork to Mrs. Huang (jhuang@edgemont.org) and/or Mrs. Feuerstein (efeuerstein@edgemont.org) by May 18th.
Please note: 1) Poem/Prose should not exceed 600 characters, and 2) Photographs must be submitted in .jpeg, .jpg or .gif format, at least 2,000 pixels wide and no larger than 10 MB.

You can make a difference every day to take care of our Earth! Here are a few more resources for you to explore to celebrate and learn more about our amazing world:
Click here to check out National Geographic. You can see a neighborhood safari, learn from animal experts, and try activities to explore our amazing world.
Click here to check out the National Park Service. Did you know you can earn your Junior Park Ranger badge from home? You can also learn more about the night skies, the underwater world, and archaeology.
Click here to learn more about dolphins from Disneynature+. Learn about Echo the dolphin, his family and the coral reef that he calls home.
Did you know that Carlsbad Canyons in New Mexico contains over 119 caves that were formed when sulphuric acid dissolved limestone? Left in its wake as caves of all shapes and sizes. Explores ancient sea ledges and dive into rocky canyons. Human activity had been present here from prehistoric people to the American Indians. Check it out here!
Today marks the 50th anniversary of Earth Day! Let's read the Planet Earth Pledge and think of ways we can help the environment. By making a change yourself, you can encourage others to do so as well. For example, you can help sort recyclables (such as food cartons, scrap paper, and cardboard boxes) and save electricity by turning off lights and devices when they are not in use. To learn more, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has created a special list of resources and activities. (Thank you to our PTA Earth Day Chairs, Mrs. Amy Foote and Mrs. Anastasia DeMaio, for their recommendations.)
Here is another fun craft activity to do for Earth Day!
Let's go on a Nature Scavenger Hunt! Learn about what lives and grows in your neighborhood by going on a nature scavenger hunt around your home. What types of flowers and trees do you see? Gather up some examples of what you find - twigs, leaves, pine cones, rocks and seeds. Do you know where each item comes from and what it’s role is in the world? How are some items similar and different? How do they feel? How do they smell? You can use this list or create your own list for your hunt. Have fun exploring!
In honor of Earth Day this Thursday, we'd like to share an optional outdoor activity each day this week. Let's go on a Rainbow Color Hunt! (Please click this link for more information.) Nature is full of amazing colors and see if you can spot something red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, pink and brown. Please feel free to share any photos from your rainbow color hunt with Mrs. Feuerstein or Mrs. Huang.
