Pearson Realize and Words Their Way

What is it?

Pearson Realize is a website that the students in my reading classes have been using this year. It is a digital version of the curriculum, Words Their Way, which we also use in my classroom.

Words Their Way helps students look at the pattern in words such as: -at in cat, sat, hat; -tion in action, function, invention, etc.

Students sort a group of words based on the pattern they see or hear in the words. They first use a paper version of the words and sort these into columns.

Once they complete the paper-sort, they are then ready to sort the words digitally. Click on the link for Pearson Sign In at the bottom of the page.

How can I use this as a part of remote learning?

Since my students are not able to complete the paper-sort activity while working from home, I can assign them digital sorts that they can complete as a review or ones that I think they can do independently.

Students were given an individual Username and Password. **If your student does not remember their log-in information or if they have difficulty logging in, please e-mail me and I will send you that information or I'll reenter their information which will allow them to then log-in.

My Second grade students have now had time logging into this website. If they have a Sort to complete, this can be done at home. If they have forgotten how to log-in, please e-mail me at dmjebens@edgefield.k12.sc.us and I'll send you the information they will need.
