Studies have shown that many youths face depression due to peer pressure, and the unhealthy built-up of stress arising from family issues, friendship problems, or societal expectations. Despite their academic success, Singapore’s youths have reported higher levels of anxiety compared to other nations.
We are concerned about the high levels of stress our peers are facing and the negative coping mechanisms they might turn to, such as pretending it is not there or self-harm. We hope to understand the mental well-being of students in our school, and encourage them to take effective, positive steps towards improving their mental wellness.
