My name is Mrs. Adrianna Pacella and I will be your child’s Pre-K teacher this year at the GLP Primary School. Mrs. Kathy Slisz is the aide in our classroom and will be working with your child every day. We are so excited to get to know you and your child! Please take your time and read the important information listed below and feel free to reach out to me with any questions!
Routines & Procedures of our classroom:
Water Bottles and Footwear- We are very fortunate to have physical education daily and will go outside for recess when the weather permits. As such, please send your child in sneakers each day until winter boot season arrives. At that time, please pack a pair of sneakers or send a pair that can be kept in your child’s locker throughout the week. Please note that for safety purposes, if your child is not wearing sneakers, he/she will not be permitted to take part in physical activities, including playing on playground equipment and participating in P.E. class. Additionally, please be sure to send a filled water bottle with your child each and every day.
Snack Time-A daily snack will be provided for all students each day and will be served in the mid-morning. You do not need to pack a snack to bring to school for your child!
While snack items are furnished through our Pre-K grant, we are always accepting and very appreciative of any snack donations. At this time, there are no known food allergies in our classroom!
Breakfast & Lunch Time- School breakfast and lunch are now free for all GLP students- how exciting! Any additional snack items will not be, such as ice cream or chips. You will need to upload funds to your child’s account to purchase extra snacks. Please view the Eden CSD website for more information on that! Fortunately, breakfast and lunch are free for your child!
-Students who need to attend breakfast at the cafeteria may do so upon arrival, after checking in with myself or Mrs. Slisz. Pre-K breakfast is in the cafeteria from 9:00-9:30. However, if a student is late for school and the breakfast session has ended, this morning meal service will likely not be available as it ends promptly at 9:30.
-Lunchtime for our class is scheduled from 11:50-12:20 daily and Mrs. Slisz will accompany the students to the cafeteria to assist the students as needed. Students needing to order lunch will make their menu selection in the morning when they arrive in the classroom!
*** Monthly menus are available on the GLP School website.***
Class Dojo- This year, I will be utilizing an innovative online tool called Class Dojo to help keep you informed of your child’s behavior at school, share whole class and individual messages, and post photos of all the fun things we are doing in the classroom!
Within Class Dojo, students can both earn points based on the behaviors they demonstrate in the classroom, at lunch, and at specials. As a parent, you will receive an alert when your child has earned a point. For example, your child may earn a point for “showing determination” and “demonstrating empathy” towards others. In my classroom, your child will only lose a point if they hit/kick/hurt another person.
You will also be able to view messages that I have sent to the whole class or to your particular family, and message me with any questions or concerns of your own. However, please refrain from using Class Dojo to communicate time sensitive or confidential information. Please contact the school nurse with all health-related inquiries or concerns. Any dismissal changes or emergencies should be directed to the GLP Main Office.
To get started, all you need to do is download the free app and enter your parent code (please see your child’s take home folder for the Class Dojo flyer for your specific code and more detailed instructions on how to get started).
Rest Time- Because we are a full-day pre-kindergarten classroom, the students will have an afternoon nap/rest time. This gives all children an opportunity to relax and recharge in a safe, calm, and comfortable setting. We will transition into rest time gradually with calming music, and dimmed lights. Please be sure to send in a mat and blanket with your child to be kept at school. Rest mats that roll up and have an attached blanket/pillow are recommended as these types of mats are easy for transporting home. Rest time supplies will be sent home regularly for laundering.
Medical Information/Absences- Please contact the school nurse with all health-related inquiries or concerns. Any dismissal changes, absences or emergencies should be directed to the GLP Main Office.
Please look through the papers that are in your child’s take home folder and return any signed forms back to me as soon as you can. The take home folder can return to school with your child on the first day! I look forward to working with you and especially your child!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Adrianna Pacella
