As you create a calendar to prepare for the exam, consider including the following tasks and study tools. You should begin preparing for the exam during your first course.
BDS Modules: These consist of acquisition and fluency modules covering all of the task list topics. You will complete these modules as part of the ABA program @ LU. You will also have access to these modules for one year after graduation to help you study for the exam.
SAFMEDs: You will be encouraged to create SAFMEDs and use them throughout your program.
Mock Exams:
- Chapters 1-4 PPT Mock
- Celia Heyman Mock 1 & Grid
- Celia Heyman Mock Updated
Best Practices:
- Create SAFMEDs and practice daily. Conduct 1 minute fluency tests once weekly and continue to chart until you reach 35-40 corrects per minute. Join a fluency contest with your cohort or small group. Example here.
- Begin reading articles daily. Set up a reading habit (try an RSS feed!) and use self-management strategies to motivate your own reading behavior. While reading, practice identifying the IV, DV, and results of the study. Some suggested journals:
- Conduct a research project during your graduate studies. IRB @ Lindenwood
- Join professional networks at the student rate
- Check out Dick Malott's study resources
- Take advantage of the free library resources and build your own professional research bank. You can use the ILL to request articles from all kinds of sources for FREE!
- Join or create a virtual test-prep community. Contribute questions and answers regularly.
- Create graphic organizers or guided notes to help organize difficult concepts. Here are Rogue ABA's premade ones, but you can easily pinterest/Google search some of the concept titles and make your own as well!

- Listen to podcasts on your commute or read blogs if you use public transportation
