Dear Macgregor Community,
It has been a fabulous couple of weeks at Macgregor with positive events, great learning and plenty of moments that remind us what a special community we are part of. From the way students are engaging in their classrooms to the energy around whole‑school events, there’s been a real sense of connection and pride across the school. Please read on to hear more about what’s been happening in and around Macgregor.
Harmony Day and National Day of Action Against Bullying and Violence
Today we recognised both Harmony Day and the National Day of Action Against Bullying and Violence and our school was filled with colour, connection and thoughtful conversations.
Harmony Day gave us another opportunity to celebrate the many cultures that make up our community. Seeing students and staff in cultural dress and orange clothing was a wonderful reminder of how proudly multicultural we are. Harmony Day also sits alongside the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, which encourages us to reflect on fairness, respect and equality. Our classes explored what it means to belong and how we can help every person in our school feel safe and included.
Alongside this, students took part in learning linked to the National Day of Action Against Bullying and Violence. They discussed the different forms bullying can take, the impact it has, and the important role bystanders play in creating a safe school environment. These conversations help build the confidence and skills our children need to speak up, support one another and contribute to a caring community.
Both days highlight values that sit at the heart of who we are at Macgregor: kindness, respect, inclusion and standing up for what is right. Thank you to our teachers for the thoughtful learning experiences they created, and to our students for engaging with such maturity and empathy.
Together, we continue to build a school where every child feels safe, valued and a true sense of belonging.
Ride and Walk 2 School - Thank You
A couple of weeks ago, our P&C ran a one‑off icy pole event as part of our Ride and Walk 2 School initiative, and it was a lovely way to finish the week. While the turnout was a little smaller than the last time we held it, it was still a really positive afternoon with plenty of smiles and a calm end‑of‑day atmosphere around the school.
A huge thank you to our wonderful P&C for organising the event and for their ongoing support in helping us tackle parking and traffic challenges in practical, community‑focused ways. We’re also grateful to all the parents and children who took part by walking or riding home, or by parking a little further away and joining in on foot.
Every small step helps make the area around our school safer, calmer and more enjoyable for everyone.
