Dear parents and carers
Remote learning for Year 8 students from Monday 6 June until Friday 10 June (week 7)
I’d like to thank all of our families, students and staff for the way you’ve supported one another throughout the school year. As with all parts of the ACT community, we have been challenged by the impact of COVID-19 on our school operations.
Since the start of term we have experienced limited teacher availability primarily due to staff isolating with COVID-19 or as household contacts.
We have unfortunately reached a point where Year 8 are unable to run normal face to face learning programs.
Year 8 students will need to temporarily transition to remote learning from Monday 6 June. We anticipate that your child will be able to resume face to face learning in their classrooms on Tuesday 14 June.
During this time, students will access their learning via google classroom. Additional detailed information for families with children in Year 8 is attached.
Children of essential workers and vulnerable children will still be able to attend school and be supervised while accessing the same remote learning program. Where possible we encourage you to support your child to access their remote learning from home. Details of that program are attached. You will need to confirm via phone on 61423399 or email info@kss.act.edu.au if your child will still be attending school during this remote learning period.
We apologise for the inconvenience this will cause our families and thank you for your understanding.
I will keep you updated via email on further developments.
Your patience and kindness is appreciated. Please contact our front office staff via phone 61423399 or email info@kss.act.edu.au if you have any questions.
Regards

Dear parents and carers of students in year 8,
Thank you for your support of our staff and children as we move to this period of remote learning. I appreciate this change will impact staff, students and families differently. Over the next week our focus will be on wellbeing. The most important thing you can do as a family is support your child's wellbeing.
Children can express their feelings in many ways. I encourage you to speak openly with your children about what they are feeling. If you have any concerns and/or require extra help and assistance, our school psychologists are available to provide support you. The telehealth service provides access for you and/or you child to talk through any concerns with a school psychologist. To access the service, a booking request may be made via an online form or by calling 6205 1559 between 9:00am and 4:30pm.
The Directorate has compiled a range of useful wellbeing resources for students and families that may help you with these conversations or link to community support.
We will be reaching out to you regularly to ensure you are kept up to date with any changes or new information.
Kind regards,
Karen Murray
