Why the review of the HASS Framework?
the BSSS cycle of review
reviews undertaken also of English, Mathematics, Arts and Science Framework
frameworks needed to be updated to align with Board endorsed policies.
The Review of BSSS Senior Secondary Curriculum (2015) recommended that frameworks reflect coherence and consistency in design, format and quality.
The Shape of the ACT Senior Secondary Curriculum (2016) provides guidelines and design specifications, based on ACARA course design, and relevant to ACT context
the HASS Framework is scheduled for review in 2028.
Context for Frameworks and Courses
Australian Curriculum courses (P-10) and Senior Secondary courses were adopted by the ACT government for use in ACT schools.
BSS Senior Secondary courses are aligned with Australian Curriculum courses P-10, and builds on the learning.
ACARA Senior Secondary courses haven’t been revised or written. The BSSS awaits review by ACARA before existing courses are revised.
A key difference from ACARA that affects our courses, is that units in courses do not have to be delivered sequentially, unlike the Australian Curriculum.
