Research shows that one of the chief characteristics of a high performing school is a quality Library Media Program. Based on this research, the New York State Education Department (NYSED) supports the importance of efforts by School Boards, Superintendents, Principals, School Librarians, school districts, and communities throughout the State in helping students learn more, achieve better grades, and score higher through building and supporting strong school library media programs.
In an information technology rich world, School Media Centers are vital to developing lifelong learners. The mission of the Middletown Library Media Centers is to support the entire school community including scholars , staff, and parents in maintaining a commitment to educational excellence. The LMC staff deliver services to support and encourage scholars to become lifelong learners. The LMC program provides access to materials and resources on curriculum subjects and personal interests in a variety of formats in order to assist students in becoming active, independent locators, evaluators, and users of information in an information-driven society.Â
