Showing respect is important at all times. It helps make school a fun and pleasant place for all students, and me. If students choose to not show respect in the classroom, they will be asked to take a break and reflect. If the student continues the behavior, we will create a contract describing ways of staying focused on respectful behavior. If that does not work, there will be a phone call home or a parent conference.
Success begins with believing you can! When you have a positive, growth mindset, you know you can get smarter and better at anything with effort and practice.
Your child has been given a student planner. I will require students to write their assignments in this planner each day, bring it home, and then bring it back. Students will also have a homework folder that goes home each day, and should come back.
Homework is practice, and practice makes perfect. Homework is given Monday - Thursday. It is an important part of learning. Individual practice at home will allow students to identify whether or not they "got" what was taught throughout the day. Students should return homework the next day.
Students' grades will be averaged for the report card. Students will be graded on English/Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, Characteristics of a Successful Learner, Music, Art, Physical Education, and Library.
