Late assignments are accepted until the end of each marking period for a partial grade . If students are unhappy with their grade, I encourage them to contact me outside of class to discuss their work & effort. I will offer them up to 2 weeks into the next marking period to make up missed work or events based on their individual situation.
What is the SchoolTool Parent Portal?
Our Academic Management System, SchoolTool, offers the SchoolTool Parent Portal. Parent Portal gives parents access to monitor their children's progress in school and provides a way for parents to get secure online information about their children.

Graphic Design is the art of visual communication through 2 Dimensional works. Students considering a career in design fields such as book design/publishing, advertising, presentation design, packaging design, magazine layout, corporate design, motion graphics, animation or web design should enroll in this course. Students will apply their knowledge of the elements & principles of art & design to strengthen their visual literacy. They will explore a range of design techniques using various media & software programs. Possible projects include: logo design, TV bulletin design, poster design, CD/DVD covers, book art, collage, animation & web design. Students will maintain a digital portfolio of their work throughout the year for future use and as a grading tool to meet NYS Learning Standards. Written, visual and research-based digital journal assignments are given regularly as course work. Students are expected to strengthen their verbal, written and visual communication skills based in the elements & principles of design. All work is based upon the study aesthetics, purpose and criticism of digital art forms.
Prerequisite: Studio in Art & interest, motivation, knowledge or basic computer operation and the ability to work maturely and independently with technology in a studio setting.
This will be an in depth course designed at cultivating & enhancing the skills & understandings learned from the prerequisite course of Intro to Graphic Design. The course work will emphasize development of technical skills, reasoning, analytical and problem solving abilities. Projects will emphasize design, advertising, illustration, and digital & multimedia preparation of printed and electronic promotional materials. Students will be trained in the development of concept & design for school related promotional materials such as the school newspaper, posters for school related events, logo design for clubs & teams and the day to day maintenance of the ECSD Channel 20 Bulletin Board.
Prerequisite: Studio in Graphic Arts or permission of the instructor, motivation, and the ability to work maturely and independently with technology in a studio setting.
This competency-based course provides students an introduction to creating digital video & audio projects, using digital camcorders and non-linear editing software. This project-based course emphasizes confidence and competence building strategies to train students on these digital video tools as well as video techniques, pre production planning, scripting and story organization. In addition to class hours, additional hours and homework will be required outside of class time. The course operates in a working environment that is flexible; creative; self paced; and provides off-campus and after-hour privileges for students to complete video projects.
Prerequisite: Studio in Art & interest, motivation, knowledge or basic computer operation and the ability to work maturely and independently with technology in a studio setting.

Using technology like chroma key green, students will be able to bring ideas to life based anywhere the creativity can take them. This project-based course emphasizes more confidence and competence into the building strategies to train students on these digital video tools as well as video techniques, pre production planning, scripting and story organization. In addition to class hours, additional hours and homework will be required outside of class time. The course operates in a working environment that is flexible; creative; self paced; and provides off-campus & after-hour privileges for students to complete video projects.
Prerequisite: Intro to Video/Radio Production, or permission of the instructor, motivation, and the ability to work maturely and independently with technology in a studio setting.
This course will introduce students to the world of media arts. Students will gain experience with the fundamentals of broadcasting, utilizing the district’s television and radio studios. Students will become acquainted and proficient with studio equipment (cameras, microphones, consoles, editing computers), used for ECSD television and radio programming on Channel 20 and WELV.
Note: All class meetings are held after the school day (i.e. afternoon/evening classes) on a schedule determined by the instructor. The schedule will vary as needed to cover live school and community events (board meetings, sporting events, concerts, etc...).
Prerequisite: Studio in Art & interest, motivation, knowledge or basic computer operation and the ability to work maturely and independently with technology in a studio setting.
This course will give students the opportunity to use their knowledge and mastery learned from the prerequisite course, Intro to Television and Radio. Students will gain experience with the fundamentals of broadcasting, utilizing the district’s television and radio studios. This project-based course emphasizes more confidence and competence into the building strategies of creating programming by covering both school & community events live and recording them with edits for future viewing & historical archives.
Note: All class meetings are held after the school day (i.e. afternoon/evening classes) on a schedule determined by the instructor. The schedule will vary as needed to cover live school and community events (board meetings, sporting events, concerts, etc...).
Prerequisite: Intro to Television & Radio Broadcasting, or permission of the instructor, motivation, and the ability to work maturely and independently with technology in a studio setting.
