AIS reading is a motivational class structured to incorporate working interactively with peers while encouraging the sharing of thoughts and ideas about enriching, colorful, appropriately leveled books. It is also a place to challenge oneself to achieve their own personal best in the areas of phonics, fluency, comprehension, and writing.
Students will be utilizing personal word walls to achieve mastery on grade level sight words and or vocabulary words. Students may be assigned to study these words each week.
Grade 2 groups will be given a take home book to read to a family member which should be returned to school the following day.
Students will receive progress reports summarizing their growth and success in the areas of comprehension, phonics, and fluency. All students are informally assessed at least once per week utilizing anecdotal records. This is a form of progress monitoring in which students are assessed on their oral reading.
What is the SchoolTool Parent Portal?
Our Academic Management System, SchoolTool, offers the SchoolTool Parent Portal. Parent Portal gives parents access to monitor their children's progress in school and provides a way for parents to get secure online information about their children.
To register for the Parent Portal, please contact your child's main office.
