After school help is offered every day (except faculty meeting days) from 2:35 - 3:35 in the Extended Day Program in room 435. No appointment necessary.
Class Rules:
1. Treat everyone with respect.
2. No profanity.
3. No food or drinks in the classroom.
4. No cell phone use during the class period.
4. Come on time, and prepared to work and you will be successful.
Assignments are due the next class period, unless otherwise noted. Assignments are given a score of zero to three points. The score is based upon the number of problems legitimately attempted. We immediately go over homework assignments. At times homework assignments will be handed in for a grade based on the accuracy of the solutions, rather than an attempt. Students are notified when it is just a homework check or a hand-in assignment.
Before each exam, you will be given a set of review questions to complete. If you have completed the entire review, and happen to fail the exam, you may make corrections on the exam to raise your failing grade to a passing 65. If you passed the exam, you may make corrections to raise your score by a maximum of 10 points. Corrections must be done on a separate sheet of paper, which has the question written out and then the correct solution shown below it. You may use your notes, or get help in extended day to make corrections.
Students enrolled in a non-collegian program will have their grades calculated using the first procedure listed below. Students who are enrolled in the Collegian courses that I teach (Pre-Calculus and Calculus) will have one grade calculated using the first procedure for an Ellenville grade. An additional grade is calculated using the second procedure below, from which a letter grade for SUNY Ulster is determined. The percents in the second procedure, as well as the scale below that, are established by SUNY Ulster.
Evaluation and Grading Procedure for Ellenville:
10% Class work and Participation
20% Homework
30% Quizzes (as needed)
40% Exams (7 chapter exams, 2 projects, 1 mid-term exam, and a Regents exam)
Evaluation and Grading Procedure for Ulster:
60% 3 or 4 Unit Exams and Midterm
20% Final Exam
20% Other tests, quizzes, projects, homework, participation
SUNY Ulster Math Department Grading Scale:
A=93-100% B= 83-86% C= 73-76% D= 63-66%
A-= 90-92% B-= 80-82% C-= 70-72% D-= 60-62%
B+= 87-89% C+= 77-79% D+=67-69% F= 0-59%
