Our classroom is a community!
In order to make sure our community runs smoothly and benefits ALL OF US, we need to have consistent procedures, routines and of course, rules and expectations. These will help to create a predictable environment where we all feel secure, safe and respected.
Listed below are the 4 main class (and school) rules. During the first few days of school, our classes will be discussing these and our classroom expectations to ensure the best atmosphere for all our community members.
Be PREPARED!
Be ready to learn.
Have everything you need.
Be POSITIVE!
Have a good attitude, no matter what.
Be RESPECTFUL!
Be polite and courteous to your classmates and teachers.
Be RESPONSIBLE!
You control yourself and your actions.
Do what is assigned and study!
Along with these general rules, all rules set by the Ellenville Central Schools in the CODE OF CONDUCT must be adhered too.
Ask questions when you don't understand something! Be honest with yourself and don't be afraid to ask.
Stay focused on the task you are doing; take a small break if you need to, but make sure you finish what you started.
Remember the "Power of Yet"...you may not be able to do something...YET --- practice makes better!
Making goals will keep you motivated!
Looking over your notes everyday is a great way to study.
You are required to have a calendar or a system to keep track of your assignments. All assignments will be posted in Google Classroom as well.
All assignments have clearly stated due dates.
Homework will be assigned 2-3 days a week. It is both for practice and to see how well you are understanding the information. Not all homework assigned will be graded, but it will be checked for completion.
Only homework that is graded will be accepted late.
Throughout a lesson, independent work will be assigned. These grades will be 40% of your grade. Homework will be assigned for review or additional practice. It will always be checked but not always be graded. Homework will count for 20% of your grade. Throughout the unit and at the end, some form of assessment of mastery will be given: a test, quiz, or project. This grade will be 30%. The remaining 10% of your grade will be your participation in class.
