Expectations of Students

Symphonic Band:

~ Students dispose of all food, beverages, and gum before entering the classroom.

~Students arrive on time and prepared. (Instrument, music, pencil).

~ Students be prepared to begin rehearsal within two minutes of the bell.

~ Students actively participate in entire rehearsal including warm ups.

~Students put ALL of their equipment away:

~ Music goes in folders and into the cabinet

~ Instruments/Mutes into the cases and into the cabinets

~Percussion equipment must also be put away.

~ Always be safe

~Always be kind and respectful

Introduction to Music & Introduction to Piano

1. Arrive to class on time.

2. Please NO HATS and NO Phones unless instructed to use them.

3. No headphones unless directed to use them by the teacher.

4. Come to class prepared with a folder for materials and something to write with (preferably a pencil)

5. Participate and contribute to class activities.

6. Respect everyone and everything.

Examples: Do not speak when someone else is speaking, do not call out. Please raise your hand. Do not touch instruments without permission and do not use profanity.

7. No beverages near pianos.

8. Only use cell phones during class when you have permission.

9. Do not leave the classroom without permission nor without a pass.

10. Drinks from the water fountain and bathroom use will be allowed only during the first and last five minutes of class.

Students should arrive on time and be prepared for each day. They should have a positive mind set and be respectful to all.

Symphonic Band

Students are expected to practice outside of class to prepare all performance based assignments. All written assignments not completed during class must be completed on the students own time. (Home, Lunch, or Academic Workshop)

Introduction to Music

All assignments not completed during class time must be completed outside of class. (At home or during an academic Workshop or Lunch)

Introduction to Music:

Participation ` 30%

Class work 40%

Quizzes, Tests, & Projects 30%

Symphonic Band Grading:

Rehearsals - 30%

Concerts & Playing Assessment - 30%

Lessons - 30%

Written Work & Written Assessments - 10%

Introduction to Piano:

Classroom Participation & Attendance 50%

Playing Assignments & Written Assignments 50%
