Welcome to Ellenville Middle School! I'm excited to start our journey together. While things may look and feel different for right now, I'm excited to be back working with students. This year, we will work on improving our reading, writing, and math skills. We will also be exploring some Ancient World History and some fun and exciting Earth Science. If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to reach out to me.
Be an Ellenville CHAMP!

C- Care for yourself and others:. While remote learning is taking place, taking care of yourself should become a top priority. Students, if you find yourself getting fidgety or restless, let me know that you need a movement break. When I tell you to sign off the google meet and take a break, take advantage of that time and move around, get outside if you can, and interact with other people/pets in your house. Step away from the screen! Parents, take advantage of the time that your students are online with me. Get something done around the house, sit in a quiet space, watch your favorite TV show, or do something that involves you taking care of you. As a parent, I know first hand how much you love your child(ren) and also how much having them with you 24 hours a day can take its toll on your mind, body and spirit. We are in this together.
H- Have Respect: Students should have respect for themselves and others. We go through the rules for online etiquette and students should remember to act online as they are expected to act in school.
A- Act Responsibly: Distance Learning is a good time to practice taking responsibility. Now that you're in Middle School, you will be expected to become more responsible. This means showing up to Google Meets on time and prepared. You need to check your classwork tab daily and turn in assignments on time. You should also practice your reading, writing and math skills outside of class daily.
M- Make Good Choices: While online, it is especially important that you make good choices. You need to be respectful of the people around you. When you are not interacting with your teacher, you should be taking care of assignments that are owed and taking care of you. Make good choices in all you do.
P- Put Effort into All You Do: If you are struggling with something in class, it is very important that you let me know. It is not always easy to tell when you're not getting something, especially when I'm looking at you through a screen. You should always try your best and be willing to try new things. 6th grade will be building on things that you've already learned, so it's important for you to be willing to try something new. All of your assignments should be submitted after you've checked everything over and revised some of your work.
Most assignments posted will have a due date of the following morning. If you are unable to complete your assignment during class time, complete it during academic workshop or after school and submit it by the due date posted.
