Course Overview
Government/Economics
Welcome to Participation in Government and Economics. Both Government and Economics are semester long courses that will last for 20 weeks each. During our study of American Government we will focus on understanding not only how our government system functions, but also the rights and responsibilities of our citizens within this system. Our study of economics will focus on the basic economic principles of the American market system. It builds on real-world economic applications to create a basic understanding of economic concepts and our economic system. This course relates economic principles through real-world situations. Students must pass each course (Government and Economics) as a requirement for graduation!
Global History II
Global History II begins in the year 1750 CE and continues chronologically up to the present. Several concepts are woven throughout the course including industrialization, nationalism, imperialism, conflict, technology, and the interconnectedness of the world. We will also examine thematically key issues that the world faces today. Over the course of this school year, we will learn and practice the skills necessary for you to succeed on the Global History Regents Exam, a NYS requirement for graduation.
All instruction and work will be completed on Google Classroom. It is expected that:
Students will access Google Classroom page on a daily basis
Students will attend our regularly scheduled Google Meeting at the start of class each day.
Attendance will be taken during our scheduled class time.
Students will mute their microphone when not speaking to the teacher.
Students will be respectful of the language they use.
Use the “Chat” feature to answer or ask questions.
Mr. Militello will be available on Google Meet during your entire class period. Ask questions!
Students should arrive on time and be prepared for each day. They should have a positive mind set and be respectful to all.
It is your responsibility to make up missed work when you are absent from class.
Assignments in this course will be graded on a point system. Each assignment is worth a designated number of points. At the end of each marking period, your grade will be determined by dividing the total number of points you accumulated by the total number of points assigned. The following is an example of the point values used in class. Students can view their grades in Google Classroom or via Parent Portal.
