As a student of this class, you are expected to give respect to your peers, teachers, guests, the classroom, and yourself. Avoid rude language, aggressive gestures(vocal or physical), and immature behavior. Respect privacy of others, always strive to help others in need, and come to class on time. Over the year, you will find that this class will become a family. Let's treat each other that way.
In this classroom, computer use is a key element of every I.T. course. You are expected to follow all rules already set, including:
Do not use any program or system to bypass the school filter. If you are caught, your internet privileges will be revoked and Mr. Fediuk will request that you be removed from the class
Do not destroy any computer material, digital or physical(this includes the work and files of other students)
Do not bring any digital material from home that is not allowed in school(movies, games, programs, etc.)
If a computer is left logged in, kindly log them off instead of using their profile.
Any time you use another person's work for any assignments without giving credit(unless otherwise stated), you are committing plagiarism. This is a serious offense. If you are caught stealing the work from an outside source or another student, you will be written up, given a zero for the assignment, and expected to complete the assignment for that zero. Failure to complete the assignment for a zero will result in a phone call home.
Here are some ways to avoid plagiarism:
Give credit to the source. If you got an answer from Wikipedia, you can say "According to Wikipedia" or put a link after your answer in parenthesis.
Instead of copying and pasting the answer from another source, rewrite it in your own words and make sure you understand the context.
Ask Mr. Fediuk about the best course of action if you are unsure.
In the event that one student gives another student their work to copy from, both students will receive a zero.
You are welcome to use Pandora or listen to your own music in class as long as it follows these simple guidelines:
The music is appropriate for a classroom setting(no cursing, no adult material)
The music is at a level where only you can hear it (If your neighbor can hear it, it is too loud!)
It does not interfere with your productivity in class
Failure to follow the guidelines will result in removal of this privilege.
The computers here are not "yours", even if you have been sitting in the same seat for the entire year. It is your responsibiility to put your work into the networked drive or back it up to a service like Google Drive. If you come up to me and say "Someone stole my seat", I will redirect you to this rule.
Students should arrive on time and be prepared for each day. They should have a positive mind set and be respectful to all.
Our time spent in the class is meant to be used for completing projects and assignments. The best way to succeed in this course is to complete work to the best of your ability, ask questions when unsure, and give honest effort every day. Doing this is a recipe for success.
These courses are project-based, meaning there will not be tests. All learning and growth is graded via long-term projects that apply previous and current lessons to demonstrate understanding.
If a student is not able to finish work in class, it becomes homework. Please stay after school with me or in the library to complete assignments owed.
