It is very important that all work turned in is original work written by the student turning it in. In some cases, the instructor may allow students to work together to submit something collaboratively, but such assignments will have directions explicitly stating that students may work together. Students should not work together, unless explicitly stated in the directions. For other assignments, the instructor may encourage students to use online resources to complete assignments. In all other cases, students should complete work alone. This ensures that students are relying on their own insights and knowledge to complete tasks, which will serve to help them on their exams, essays, and of course, in their lives beyond high school.
Plagiarism could be…
copying another student’s work
working together when the assignment calls for individual work
using online information to complete an essay or other assignment
having another student complete work
Any incidents of cheating, copying, turning in a paper from the Internet or from another student or any other type of academic dishonesty will result in a zero for the assignment with no make-up. Depending on the severity of the situation, the assistant principal or principal will be notified and disciplinary action will be taken in accordance with the Code of Conduct.
