FAFSA Specifics
Student Aid Index
Index number that is calculated using information provided by student and their contributors. The number can range from -1500 to 999999. This number is not a dollar amount, but is the number used by colleges and career or trade schools to calculate how much aid a student is eligible for.
Consent
Students and their contributors will need to provide consent when filling out the FAFSA form. Approving simply allows FAFSA to use the direct data exchange from the IRS to have tax data transferred directly from the IRS to FAFSA. Declining consent will result in the student being ineligible for federal Financial Aid.
