The Financial Gardening Project
My name is Earl Kelly. I've come up with this project as something to do in retirement. Although I'm not ready to retire yet, I am ready to start this project. I anticipate being able to do this for many years. When it becomes a burden, we'll all move on, the better for the experience. Endowment funded on 07/24/2024
You Are Invited to Participate in the Financial Gardening Project for High School Graduates
What Is The Financial Gardening Project?
The Financial Gardening Project is a unique opportunity for young adults to learn about saving and investing money for the future, starting with a gift of cash to kickstart your retirement savings.
How It Works
Initial Gift: You receive from me, $100 in cash with a card explaining the project.
Setting Up a Retirement Account: If you choose to participate, I will work with you to set up a Roth IRA retirement account in your name with the $100 you first received. Then I will add another $100, bringing your total to $200.
Investing Together: I will show you the process. We will start slow and go at your pace.
How You Can Earn More
Birthday Gifts: You receive an additional $100 each year.
Good Grades: If you take college or trade school classes, I pay for good grades: $1,000 for every A and $500 for every B.
Ongoing Support
Regular Contributions: You are responsible for contacting me on your birthday and after grading periods.
Ongoing Investment: Whenever you receive more funds, we will invest them appropriately.
End Date: This program is designed to give you a head start in planning for your financial future. I stop when you turn 26, with the hope that you will continue independently after that.
