Below are some frequently asked questions by students interested in conducting research at Eckerd College.
Q - Do I have to have specific research experience to participate in research at Eckerd?
A - No! Eckerd College takes pride in making research accessible to students. To be considered for a research assistant position, students must fill out an application to the lab and complete a brief interview with Dr. Mallinas.
Q - Are there any prerequisites to participate?
A - All students must have taken Introduction to Psychology with a C+ or better. Students wishing to participate for course credit (PS 360 or PS 460) should consult the course listings for prerequisites.
Q - How much time do I need to commit to the lab?
A - Students volunteering in the lab should be able to commit a minimum of 3 hours per week. Students participating for course credit must commit 9 hours per week.
A - Long term, participation in the lab is on a semester-by-semester basis. Students may choose to participate for more than one semester.
Q - Will my work get published?
A - Maybe! Depending on your involvement and contribution to the research, if you complete a project it may be sent for review and the publication process begins!
