The short-lived radioisotope lab houses four detectors comprised of Series HPGe (High-Purity Germanium) Coaxial Photon Detectors (3 planar and 1 well) for analyzing samples by gamma spectroscopy. This includes the detection of a suite of radioisotopes applicable for determining radioisotope activities and sediment age dating on various time-scales.

Facilities for performing Sediment Texture (grain size), Bulk composition (% carbonate, % organic, etc.), Elemental composition by XRF (X-ray Fluorescence), and Mineralogical composition by XRD (X-ray Diffraction). Additionally can perform analyses on specific size fractions (i.e. sand, mud, silt, clay, etc.) with physical separations including by centrifuge.
