Welcome to Eckerd College - AAUP

The American Association of University Professors (AAUP) is a nonprofit membership association of faculty and other academic professionals. Headquartered in Washington, DC, the mission of the (AAUP) is to advance academic freedom and shared governance; to define fundamental professional values and standards for higher education; to promote the economic security of faculty, academic professionals, graduate students, post‐doctoral fellows, and all those engaged in teaching and research in higher education; to help the higher education community organize to make our goals a reality; and to ensure higher education's contribution to the common good.

The AAUP Eckerd College Chapter was established in 1960 when the college was named Florida Presbyterian College to promote shared governance and academic freedom. 2022-2023 Chapter Officers are:  Liza Conrad (President), Lauren Highfill (Vice-President), Beth Forys (Secretary/Treasurer).

The Chapter was dormant for several years, but was reinstated in 2020.  Here are our current bylaws.
