Hello, Crockett Band Family:
My name is Sonia Campos. I am originally from Midland, TX and a graduate from Midland High School. I attended The University of Texas at Austin where I received my Bachelor's in Music Education. While at UT, I was involved in The Longhorn Band where I had the opportunity to perform in many different cities across the nation, watch high energy football games, and meet incredible human beings throughout my collegiate career.
I am excited to work with your students this coming year! I am in my sixth year at Crockett Middle School as the Director of Bands and in my ninth year in music education. With the help and expertise of my college professors, I know I gained much knowledge to give your students the best music education I can offer. I am confident that together we will be able to create hardworking individuals for our society's future.
I am fortunate to be in a great environment with amazing colleagues. Working alongside Mr. Jonathan Avila and Mr. Tyler Serrato has been a great experience and look forward to what we can do with the collaboration of your students!
I look forward to working with all of our band members and hope to instill good values as they move on to their high school careers. Let's support our students so they may reach their full potential!
My name is Tyler Serrato and I am the Assistant Director of Bands here at Crockett Middle School. I grew up here in Odessa, Texas and graduated from Permian High School in 2015. This will be my second year teaching, but my first year here at Crockett.
I have been involved with music for pretty much my whole life. I began playing percussion in the 4th grade in a small family band. Ever since then I knew I wanted to pursue music for the rest of my life. I graduated from Texas Tech University in the Fall of 2019 with a degree in music education with a focus in percussion. While at Tech, I was fortunate enough to study with Dr. Lisa Rogers and Professor Alan Shinn. Although my primary instrument is percussion, I do have a strong passion for teaching all the instruments within the band.
Over the past year, I taught elementary music full time in Lubbock. I enjoyed my time teaching in Lubbock, but I am very excited to be back in Odessa and starting my career as a band director. I also got married this summer! My wife Brighton is amazing and I look forward to showing her the success we achieve together here at Crockett Middle School over the years to come.
