Improving access to healthcare through digital services.
Well-Aware is a Rhode Island-based Startup on a mission to serve individuals with neurodegenerative diseases through digital health technologies with AI.
About
Well-Aware is a Rhode Island-based Digital Health Startup on a mission from the start of 2016 (originally called EchoWear) to improve the long-term monitoring of neurodegenerative diseases. Currently, Well-Aware headquarters is operating out of a converted industrial mill in Pawtucket, RI. The company has built strong partnerships with clinical experts such as neurologists and neuropsychologists at RI Hospital, Butler Hospital, and Brown University, who serve a large population with neurodegenerative disorders (AD, MCI, and Parkinson’s and Lewy body disease).
Vision
We, at Well-Aware, believe in thoughtful engagement with patients and care teams to create actionable digital health services.
In our design environment, we openly brainstorm in groups inclusive of diverse genders and ethnicities across generations. We develop robust, reliable, care-centered data analytics. We apply a holistic mindset to deliver age-friendly health technologies.
Founding Story
Well-Aware was conceived and created from a series of innovations at the Wearable Biosensing Lab, University of Rhode Island. We started with a wearable system and platform for functional and subjective assessments of Parkinson's disease delivered via mobile application. After interviewing 150+ potential customers (in the NSF iCorps program), it became clear that there is a growing need to monitor behavioral symptoms and daily life activities of people with neurodegenerative disorders in home settings. Since August 2020, we have been striving toward revolutionizing the long-term monitoring and care management of neurodegenerative diseases by translating research into commercialized technologies in the areas of digital health, wearable devices, and patient-centered solutions.
